To Whom It May Concern,

I am pleased to offer my strong endorsement of Aaron Perry for Davis County Sheriff. I have known Mr. Perry for approximately ten years, first meeting him when he served as Assistant Chief for Roy City. At that time, I was the Mayor of West Haven, and our city was exploring the possibility of contracting law enforcement services with a neighboring municipality. Mr. Perry led much of the work on that proposal. Although West Haven ultimately did not move forward with a contract, I was impressed by the thoroughness, professionalism, and clarity of his work. The proposal was comprehensive, well-organized, and effectively presented.

Currently, as a Weber County Commissioner, the Sheriff’s Office falls within my portfolio. During Mr. Perry’s tenure as Chief Deputy, I worked closely with him and consistently found him to be well prepared and detail-oriented in his presentations. He demonstrated a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility, actively working to ensure that fees for service aligned with market standards. He also took initiative in securing project funding by preparing and submitting grant applications. I greatly valued having Mr. Perry’s expertise and leadership on matters related to budgeting and financial oversight.

As Chief, Mr. Perry was proactive in addressing citizen concerns before they escalated to the Commission level, and he took the same thoughtful approach when working with the media. It was reassuring to know that issues were being addressed promptly and professionally. When matters did reach the Commission, Mr. Perry provided timely, clear, and accurate information to help guide our responses. During his tenure, he also worked collaboratively with Human Resources and the Commission to identify county code provisions in need of revision and to propose meaningful updates.

Mr. Perry is among the most capable and respected law enforcement professionals I have known. He is an effective leader who earned the respect of those he supervised and consistently demonstrated initiative in improving operations. Equally important, he brings compassion to his work—an essential quality in a profession that often faces difficult and complex situations. I appreciated our thoughtful discussions on challenging topics and valued his insight and perspective.

Throughout my experience working with him, Mr. Perry has consistently demonstrated humility, professionalism, and sound judgment. He is a leader who listens, values diverse viewpoints, and understands the importance of collaboration—particularly in environments where many stakeholders do not have a law enforcement background.

Based on my extensive experience working with Aaron Perry, I can state without hesitation that he is exceptionally qualified to serve as Davis County Sheriff. I enthusiastically and without reservation offer my endorsement.

Sincerely,

Sharon A. Bolos, MPA
Weber County Commissioner
