2022
In the spring of 2022, one of our patrol crews found out that I kept coming to work after being diagnosed with a blood clot in my leg, because I was determined to finish a pay study to make sure our deputies were being paid competitively. Without any fanfare, the crew made this hatchet and presented it to me as a quiet thank-you for the work they knew I was doing on their behalf. This hatchet is one of the most cherished recognitions I have received throughout my career.
