Dear Davis County residents,

It is my privilege to endorse Aaron Perry for Davis County Sheriff. I met Aaron when he arrived at Roy City Police Department in 2015. He was considered an “outsider” to those employed at the agency at the time. They were not accustomed to officers transferring from other agencies, especially directly into leadership and administrative roles. Aaron faced an initial period of difficult rapport building as cautious employees awaited the impact of his leadership.

From the outset Aaron distinguished himself by ensuring he met individually with employees, soliciting their feedback and intentionally seeking out opinions contrary to his own. This created a dialogue with staff who began to build trust in Aaron. This trust evolved into lasting concrete relationships. Aaron is humble and illustrates this not only in his relationship with employees and co-workers, but in his relationship with other law enforcement agencies, non-law enforcement public safety partners, community stakeholders, and the residents themselves. Aaron’s balanced dedication to the office and community quickly earned him the respect of colleagues and resulted in significant contributions to the morale and welfare of our department which ultimately extends to the broader community.

After my appointment to Chief of Police and during my tenure as a state legislator in the Utah House of Representatives, I was able to continue my working relationship with Aaron in his new role as a Chief Deputy of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. He proved to be an outstanding partner, always eager to collaborate and drive improvements in public safety. Aaron appreciates the opportunity to be actively engaged in resolving broader public safety policy questions and problems. Aaron understands the value of relationships and prioritizes them, especially the relationship he has with his family as a father and a husband. Aaron’s deep roots in Davis County, his previous experience with the Davis County Sheriff’s Office, extensive experience across northern Utah law enforcement, and unwavering initiative make him the ideal candidate for Davis County Sheriff.

I am confident that Aaron will serve Davis County vehemently with integrity, vision, and steadfast commitment. I look forward to my continued work with him in his new role as Davis County Sheriff.

Sincerely,

Matthew Gwynn

Roy City Police Chief
