I am pleased to express my support for Aaron Perry as the next Davis County Sheriff. I have been fortunate to collaborate with Aaron as a colleague for more than 10 years. I worked extensively with Chief Perry when he was Assistant Chief of Police at Roy City and even more as the Chief Deputy at the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.
I have always found Aaron to be a highly skilled professional with high expectations for himself and his people. We collaborated on projects from large special events to cooperative enforcement efforts to curb violent gangs and illegal drug activity in northern Utah.
I was exposed to Aaron’s character and work ethic in and around June of 2020. One of our officers was tragically murdered in the line of duty and the country was embroiled in violent protests resulting from the death of George Floyd. Those protests erupted in Ogden City, and I reached out to partner agencies for assistance. It was a Saturday when I reached out to Aaron. He was on a mountain biking trip. While in the middle of nowhere he stopped his trip and planned a full support response from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.
Due to Aaron’s efforts and our other great partners in northern Utah the protests in Ogden remained peaceful. I appreciate Aaron’s leadership style, respectful demeanor and wisdom. I look forward to having him serve as the Davis County Sheriff.
Warm regards,
Eric R. Young
