Dear Davis County Citizens,
I have had the privilege of spending my career at the Sheriff’s Office closely
associated with Aaron Perry. I’ve watched him succeed and excel at every assignment
and position with integrity and drive. He was always my preferred source of advice and
guidance. His loyalty, persistence and dedication to the Citizens, his agency, and his
subordinates is unmatched.
Years ago, I had the opportunity to attend sniper school with Aaron. Each day usually
began with some type of stress shoot where we received a pass or fail grade. On the
last day we were tasked with an unknown distance stalk to target. The time limit was
also unknown, however, an instructor would blow an air horn if time ran down to a
point where only 5 minutes were left in the exercise. We needed to sneak into a firing
position and make a shot on the target undetected.
Well, we found ourselves below the crest of a hill that we hoped would finally give a
view of the target when the horn blew. We had 5 minutes. To complicate our situation,
we were faced with 30 yards of prickly pear covered ground between us and the crest
of the hill. After hours of crawling carefully through the boonies, I was almost ready to
admit defeat. I was horrified when I saw Aaron crawling quickly on his belly through
this cactus patch in hopes of beating the deadline and completing our mission. I had
no choice but to follow him. Long story short, we made it to the crest of the hill. We
were able to see our target and make our shot completing the mission. We can laugh
about it today, but we were covered in cactus quills, bleeding, and thoroughly exhausted.
This is exactly the kind of initiative, drive, and dedication that Aaron Perry will take into
the Office of Sheriff. He has my complete confidence and endorsement.
