Chief Perry is truly the most inspiring leader I have ever had the pleasure of working with. In the years I spent with him I had more positive growth as a leader, as a person, and as a public servant than I have throughout my life or my career.
His ability to positively transform the attitudes and culture of an entire organization comes natural to him. He has a stunning ability to learn and grow as a leader, analyze outcomes, and adapt. He is incredibly intelligent and inquisitive and has an unmatched ability to research and learn when new issues arise or room for improvement is discovered.
He is the hardest working law enforcement administrator I’ve ever met, yet his work is also selfless. He works for the betterment of the organization, the people in it, and expects nothing in return. It isn’t about ego or advancement for Chief Perry, it is about leaving everything he touches better than he found it. It is about growing the leaders and staff around him to create a legacy of success. I couldn’t begin to count how many times the last words I said while leaving the office for the day were, “Go home Chief.”
Chief Perry takes a whole systems approach to leadership in an organization. He is able to see the big picture, the minutia, and everything in between in a way most people cannot. His decision making is careful and deliberate, and he is always open to new ideas and input from his staff, from other leaders, and those he serves.
As Chief of Corrections he led our organization through a once in a generation pandemic; and through his leadership were successful in adapting to the constantly changing situation. Chief Perry is the leader who was willing to work all day as Chief, then through the night assisting our medical unit with his knowledge and licensing as a paramedic, take a nap on a couch in the office, then start the day as Chief again the next morning.
Chief Perry is also kind, fair, and empathetic. Not only to staff, but the population he serves. He is straightforward and courageous, while also maintaining a wit that helps those around him get through tough situations. While he has grown and advanced in his law enforcement career he has not forgotten the toll it takes to work as a line officer in the way so many law enforcement administrators do.
While I admittedly do not know every Law Enforcement Officer that resides in Davis County, I cannot imagine there could possibly be anyone better suited for the position of Sheriff than Aaron Perry. I fully support and endorse his candidacy.
